I fell in love with essential oils since I first had a massage with them 25 years ago. I’d always found immense benefit in having massage, but having one with essential oils took relaxation to the next level for me – and a deep relaxation of body and mind which lasted far longer than I’d experienced before.
As I studied more about these precious plant extracts, I began to learn just how powerful they can be. In fact, there are two which I would now never be without – lavender and tea-tree. I use lavender in baths to aid sleep, and tea-tree for wound healing and on my children’s still damp hair after washing to keep away the head lice! I also keep a spray bottle of lavender water in my kitchen for burns and scalds.
Essential oils can be used in baths and diffused into the air, as well as applied through the skin as in massage. I keep a diffuser going most winter days with oils such as Neal’s Yard organic defence, eucalyptus, raventsara, pine, or thyme linalol. These oils are cleansing for the respiratory system as well as being immunity boosting.
